Next up in our Spring Drink Series is this light and refreshing Blueberry Grapefruit Cocktail. The blueberry flavor comes from this amazing shrub from Christina Maser [sponsored] and the grapefruit from your favorite grapefruit soda – we used Izze. We offer a little twist on the vodka here by infusing it with some dried lemon balm.
To do that, we warmed one cup of vodka to about 110˚ and steeped 1 tsp. of dried lemon balm leaves in it for about 10 mins. It added just the slightest bit of herbal flavor that was a great balance to the fruit and citrus. This, of course, is optional and the cocktail would be delicious without the infused vodka.
If you’re not familiar with shrubs, they’re a delicious apple cider vinegar, organic sugar and fruit concoction. Christina Maser does it right by buying the fruit in season from local farms and using non-gmo sugar and organic apple cider vinegar. They’re located in Lancaster County, PA so they have great farms to choose from! Check out their whole line of products here! Shrubs, also called drinking vinegars, can be mixed with water, soda or sparkling wine too. So many ways to enjoy it!
I don’t do complicated so this is another simple recipe that’s easy to mix up single or a big batch. Hope you enjoy it!
